You really like T-Mobile, don't you? I've found their coverage in most parts of the country doesn't compare to AT&T and many of my friends in the various parts of California and Nevada dislike T-Mobile very much. Perhaps the coverage is better in the greater Petaluma area. I do have a friend in Maryland who is very happy with T-Mobile. T-Mobile is considerably less with their bucket plans (like 1,500 minutes for $60), and their support is quite good. However, how much support do you really needs for your phone? The last time I called AT&T's support was to activate my iPhone (because I was on a business plan, and that is a stupid AT&T-ism which I should post to my blog), and I found their support to be quick to respond and friendly. As a person who deals with plenty of voicemails, I find visual voicemail alone to be worth the extra $20 or so per month between AT&T and T-Mobile. For what it's worth, T-Mobile has a much better Web site than any carrier!
As they say in the car business, "there's a butt for every seat," meaning that people have different reasons to buy or use different services--that's why we have so many available to us. I, for one, believe that being able to unlock my iPhone is a good thing, because I want to be able to use my phone with a European SIM card--probably one on T-Mobile's network!
